What Is the Transmission Efficiency of Planetary Reducers?

Date:2024-12-16

The transmission efficiency of planetary reducers is usually high, generally around 90% to 98%. The specific value will be affected by many factors:
Gear stage
Single-stage transmission efficiency: usually around 97% to 98%, and some high-precision, high-performance products can even reach more than 98%.
Multi-stage transmission efficiency: With the increase of the number of gear stages, the transmission efficiency will decrease. The secondary transmission efficiency is generally around 94% to 96%, and the tertiary transmission efficiency may be around 90% to 94%.

Gear quality and processing accuracy
Gear material: Gears made of high-quality materials such as high-strength and wear-resistant alloy steel can reduce friction and wear during meshing, improve transmission efficiency, and can increase transmission efficiency by about 2% to 5%.
Processing accuracy: Gears processed with high precision have more accurate parameters such as tooth shape and pitch, and mesh more tightly and smoothly, which can increase transmission efficiency by about 1% to 3%.
Lubrication and sealing
Lubrication method and lubricant: Reasonable lubrication method and high-quality lubricant can effectively reduce friction coefficient and energy loss. The use of suitable lubricating oil or grease can increase the transmission efficiency by about 1% to 3%.
Sealing performance: Good sealing can prevent lubricating oil leakage and external impurities from entering, ensure lubrication effect and normal operation of gears, and have an impact of about 1% to 2% on the improvement of transmission efficiency.
Load size and running speed
Load size: Within the rated load range, the transmission efficiency of the planetary reducer is high and relatively stable; when the load is too large and close to or exceeds its load capacity, the efficiency will decrease, which may decrease by about 5% to 10%.
Running speed: Within a certain speed range, the running speed has little effect on the transmission efficiency; but when the speed is too high or too low, the efficiency may decrease. Generally, when the speed deviates from the optimal range by 10% to 20%, the efficiency may decrease by about 1% to 3%.
